FULL-TIME Supply Chain Specialist

Applications of those who desire an opportunity to be part of cutting-edge research in a scale-up facility are invited for the Supply Chain Specialist position. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who is a self-starter with the ability to rapidly adapt to business needs and who can contribute to this partnership by establishing and managing supply relationships and assisting in the negotiation of supplier contracts. This role is also responsible for driving continuous improvement in terms of performance and lowest total cost with the supply base

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and/or services from suppliers

  • Forecasts costs and impact and negotiates prices and terms with vendors

  • Analyzes inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, optimize customer service

  • Assists with the development and implementation of business processes and improvement strategies

  • Identifies underperforming areas in the supply chain, suggests improvements

  • Communicates effectively with management to deliver best solutions for the client

  • Documents physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, or system flows

  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures

  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field; or 8 years’ experience; or combination of education/experience

  • Experience with sourcing raw materials/chemicals/textiles/food is preferred

  • Analytical and technical skills with focus on data analysis and decision support tools

  • Experience with establishing negotiation positions is required

  • Familiar with a variety of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures

Competency Requirements

  • Ability to analyze pricing to establish a negotiation position.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs

  • Demonstrates an understanding of operational and support principles and practices

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required
